Frank Turner has been numbering his shows for so long, I thought it would make a good title for this post, show 2616 took place in TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht on Sunday the first of May. We arrived a little late at the show, because we had to go to my mom's birthday beforehand. So the first song had already started in when we arrived. I absolutely hate being late, but sometimes it cannot be avoided.
Fortunately we missed only the intro of Four Simple Words, such an awesome song to start of a concert with, it get's everybody right into the mood and everybody starts to move right away! I was not feeling very energetic that day, because of a lack of sleep, but when Frank started playing I was there for it and the energy flooded back in. So the second song came straight from the new album which I had not yet heard yet. You will notice more than once probably that I am not so good at keeping up with bands. I don't remember release dates of albums and such. It's not that I do not want to, I simply do not have the time unfortunately. So the new song came as nice surprise, because Frank Turner went back to his earlier work, which is a little louder than the previous two albums. It was nice to see that he is back at it.
Lot's of the songs of the new album passed by, real surprises were Punches and Non Serviam where he really went back to the punk rock roots! I absolutely approve of this, damn that was such a nice surprise! Now I really need the new album in my collection! I also really liked Miranda, I thought it was a great song!

In the middle of the set, the Sleeping Souls left the stage and we got just Frank to entertain us. He played There She Is, Long Live The Queen, Eye of the Day. Long Live The Queen, is one of my favorites, and it was goose bump worthy, but what really got me almost to tears was Eye of the Day. A song about a Dutch lady, Mata Hari. Her real name: Magaretha Zelle. If you want to know about this piece of history, look it up, I was unfamiliar with it, but the song did get me curious. Back to the music, the song is just an beautiful song, it is very simple, just an acoustic guitar and Frank Turner's voice. Such a powerful lyrics.
They played all my favorites like Glorious You, Photosynthesis, Recovery, Long Live The Queen. It was such a great night, great music, Frank Turner. and the Sleeping Souls are always amazing. Also love that Frank talks to the audience, tells about his music and also makes fun of the new drummer. He is such a fun artist to watch on stage, lots of jokes. And the music is truly fantastic!
If you have never seen Frank Turner live, but are interested in acoustic punk, go find yourself a ticket it won't be a waste of your money, I promise! I hope you enjoyed reading this post, let me know your thoughts down here in the comments! Until the next flight case! Below some pictures from the show.
